Full course description

Onsite course meets once a week on Mondays at our E70th Street campus for three weeks from 3-6pm

Certificate in Applied Color for Design combines CE804: The Art of Choosing Paint Color, 805: Creating a Successful Color Scheme and 806: Transform an Existing Space with Color, to form a unified series of three online workshops that give meaningful insight into how professional interior designers use color along with underlying design principles to develop color schemes that make an impact. Distilled from tried-and-true NYSID courses that have trained designers for decades, CE804, CE805 and CE806 build on what we already know, drawing out the innate sensitivity of the human eye and familiar vocabulary so students can understand more clearly how to utilize the ideas which make color such an powerful tool in interior design. Because they cover different facets of the topic, the workshops can be taken alone or in combination. Each has been created to help both professionals and non-professionals work more effectively with this essential tool of interior design. Registering for CE807 is the three series workshop offered at a discounted rate and offers students a Certificate from New York School of Interior Design.

Students should have the following materials for the first class: Winsor & Newton Designers Gouaches Permanent White (14ml), Permanent Green Middle (14 ml), Burnt Sienna (14 ml) plus a #10 paint brush.
