Introduction to Lighting opens up the basic concepts and terminology of light and color, In three two-hour modules, this course provides a concise and practical foundation to the more in-depth treatments of residential lighting applications.
The course explores how light affects our perception of the world around us. In the first module, we use a four-part model of the visual system (source, object, eye, and brain) to discuss the key variables that affect visibility and design, and importantly the experience of color in the world around us. In Module 2, participants will acquire concepts and vocabulary essential for understanding and communicating technical materials and issues. In Module 3, we cover light sources, luminaires, and controls: the tools you need to deliver light into your design.
Each module includes exercises and homework. Your world won’t look the same!
